Best Caffeinated Sparkling Water We Taste Tested

The best caffeinated sparkling water should taste like seltzer but give you enough of a caffeine jolt that it could stand in for a cup of coffee. Once we realized what a vast variety of caffeinated seltzers are available at the grocery store, we knew we had to do a taste test.

We gathered widely available brands and flavors to find the best caffeinated sparkling water you can buy. This list is extensive, tasty, and has enough caffeine to keep you up until the wee hours of the morning. Enjoy!

Best Citrus

There are lots of grapefruit seltzers out there and Hiball makes one of the best I’ve tried (and definitely the best caffeinated version). The taste is crisp, light, and citrusy. If you were at a bachelorette weekend or brunch, this would make a great version of a Paloma. Grapefruit fans, grab this!

Most Refreshing

This is like carbonated spa water and I love that. You actually get the taste of both real cucumber and mint in this sparkling water. It’s nice that something that feels so relaxing is also giving you energy! If you really want a refreshing drink, add some additional thinly sliced cucumber and fresh mint to a glass of this served over crushed ice. It will easily be among the best caffeinated sparkling water you’ve ever had.

Best for Seltzer Haters

If you’re a seltzer hater (me), this is the caffeinated sparkling water for you. It tastes like soda! Sprite, specifically. If you are looking for an actual seltzer, please steer clear of this—it’s zero sugar but it’s sweet. Speaking of clear, this is the color of Mountain Dew. Once again, this is a caffeinated sparkling water for sparkling water haters (once again, me).

Best Soda Dupe

Okay, so it’s not exactly a soda dupe. It is, however, a cousin of soda that I think you’ll enjoy. This tastes like Cherry Coke and seltzer had a baby and I mean that in a good way. If you like both Cherry Coke and seltzer, you’ll probably like this. It’s like a lighter version of soda you can drink on the daily without consuming an unhinged amount of sugar. It’s a nice option if you’re trying to cut down on the real thing, making it one of our favorite cans of sparkling water with caffeine.

Best Lime

I was shocked by how much I liked this caffeinated sparkling water. It tastes so wonderfully limey. And not just like lime juice. You can taste lime zest and rind. It feels like they juiced the whole lime into a can of caffeinated sparkling water. This is another one that is lovely on its own but would also be wonderful for a cocktail. Is mixing caffeine with alcohol bad? I don’t know. I’m not a big drinker.

Best Fruit

Ardor White Peach was our favorite classic fruit flavor of caffeinated sparkling water. It has such a nice peachy taste without feeling artificial. It hits the perfect balance between flavorful and subtle. In general, Ardor makes a good caffeinated sparkling water. You’re not going to go wrong with any of their flavors, but White Peach is certainly the best.

Best of the Best

The best caffeinated sparkling water out there is Good & Gather Pear & Hibiscus Sparkling Water with Caffeine. It is straight-up delicious. I was worried that pear and hibiscus together would lead to a can of caffeinated sparkling water that tastes like a Bath & Body Works candle. Thankfully, I was so wrong. This can of caffeinated seltzer is fragrant, light, and bubbly. I don’t typically drink seltzer and I would drink this. This Pear & Hibiscus flavor from Good & Gather is the best caffeinated sparkling water you can buy.
